In the Mushtaq Nagar locality of Arifwala, two officials from the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) attempting to remove utility meters from the houses of bill defaulters were reportedly attacked and injured by the residents. The residents alleged overbilling by the company and were already displeased with the high power bills.

The attacked officials were identified as Line Superintendent Zaheer Ahmed, and Lineman Muhammad Afzal. The city police, upon receiving information about the incident, reached the scene and rescued the officials from the mob.
The injured MEPCO officials were transported to the Arifwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment. The police are investigating the matter, and no case has been registered yet.
